Hildegarde K. (Fischer) O'Connor Obituary (1923

Hildegarde O'Connor of Piscataway, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 8, 2019 at Parker at River Road. She was 96 years old. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, her family relocated to New Brunswick, NJ and it is there that she met William F. O'Connor whom she married in 1950. In the early 1950's they started their family and moved to Milltown, NJ. Hilde was an active member of the Milltown United Methodist Church where she sang a beautiful soprano in the choir for many years, played in the bell choir, was a member of the women's group, and supported the church's many activities. She played a memorable Eliza Doolittle in a production of My Fair Lady. Hilde was a librarian at the Milltown Public Library, as well as the Our Lady of Lourdes School library. She also worked at the Rutgers Community Health Plan, and sold Avon products for many years. Some of Hilde's favorite things were big family gatherings at the holidays, cooking and baking, gardening, sewing, and needlepoint. She enjoyed playing cards and board games. She loved playing Mahjong and passed her skills on to her children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years William (Bill) in 2012 and grandchildren Jillian and Ryan; Hilde is survived by five children: William O'Connor, John O'Connor and his wife Christine, Nancy Bonanno and her husband Robert, Timothy O'Connor and his wife Judi, and David O'Connor and wife Jeanette; twenty-two grandchildren: Sherry, Brian, Kelly, Eric, Katie, Meghan, Jodi, Adam, Billy, Bobby, Kevin, Kerri, Phillip, James, Michael, Jacquelyn, Nicholas, Sean, Kyle, Kayla, Patrick, and Kara; and seventeen great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received Wednesday 3-6pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown. The first of two funeral services will be celebrated Wednesday at 6pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will then be celebrated Saturday 9:30am at the Milltown United Methodist Church followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.28:{"dateTime":"20
