Dorothy Rita Barnhard (nee Mazurowski), 86, longtime resident of Colonia passed away
peacefully on April 17, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Dorothy was born and raised in Nanticoke, PA. She met her eventual husband Neil, and they
married and settled in Newark, before moving to Colonia, where they raised four children.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her greatest joy was spending time
with her family. She delighted in hosting family get-togethers and holidays.
A charter member of Oak Crest Swim Club in Edison, Dorothy enjoyed many summers at the
club playing mahjong and canasta with good friends.
Dorothy was a regular at Harrahs in Atlantic City, where she could always be found at a joker
poker machine. She and Neil often vacationed in Laughlin, NV celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
Her greatest moments were watching her children and grandchildren at sporting events and spent
many days cheering on the sidelines at Colonia football games and wrestling matches. She was
also an avid NY Giants fan.
She is predeceased by her husband Neil Barnhard, parents Theodore and Genevieve Mazurowski
and her brother Theodore Mazurowski.
Dorothy is survived by her children Roger Barnhard of Brick, David Barnhard and wife Pam of
North Brunswick, Ken Barnhard and wife Susan of Old Bridge, Jayne Kovacs and husband Steve
of Mount Laurel and sister-in-law Diane Mazurowski of Franklin Park.
She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Taylor, Bradley, Leanne, Alex, Ethan,
Alexa, and Caroline.
Out of respect and concern for public safety, the family has chosen to schedule a memorial at a
later date. Memorial donations, in Dorothy's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
